Cheap natural graphite flakes can be exfoliated into water-soluble GO by an oxidation-exfoliation approach. Inspired by the structure of nacre, GO nanosheets are sequentially bridged and reduced into high-performance graphene-based sheets through the successive use of π-π and covalent bonding agents, which may have a wide range of promising applications (color online).
